CMOSH
CMOSH
Project Overview
Chattogram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital (CMOSH) is one of the largest multidisciplinary hospitals and academic institutions in Chattogram, Bangladesh. Serving thousands of patients and students daily, CMOSH operates across multiple departments, including clinical services, diagnostics, human resources, finance, and academic operations. Despite its scale, the hospital relied heavily on paper-based processes and disconnected departmental systems, which created operational inefficiencies, data inaccuracies, and delays in decision-making. CliqPack partnered with CMOSH to design and implement a full-stack ERP solution to modernize and digitize hospital and campus operations. The goal was to unify disparate systems into a single, integrated platform that would improve efficiency, accuracy, and coordination across all functions.
Key Metrics
- Reduction of manual workload by 40%
- Improvement in data accuracy by 85%
- Centralized management of clinical, laboratory, HR, finance, and student operations
- Real-time MIS dashboards for faster decision-making and operational visibility
- Seamless transition with zero disruption to hospital and academic workflows
Project Scope
The project involved full-scale digital transformation of CMOSH’s hospital and academic operations. This included:
- Integration of multiple open-source platforms: OpenMRS for clinical management, Odoo for HR, finance, and student housing, and OpenELIS for laboratory operations.
- Development of custom modules to address local operational requirements and workflows.
- Implementation of centralized MIS dashboards for real-time reporting across departments.
- Staff training and change management to ensure smooth adoption and minimal disruption.
- Workflow automation to replace paper-based processes and reduce manual intervention.
Project Workflow
The implementation followed a structured workflow:
- Workflow Audits and Requirement Gathering: On-site audits of clinical, diagnostic, administrative, and academic processes were conducted to map existing workflows and identify bottlenecks.
- System Architecture Design: Based on audit insights, a unified architecture was designed to integrate clinical, administrative, and laboratory systems while supporting modular expansion.
- Platform Deployment and Integration: Open-source platforms were deployed and customized. APIs were developed to ensure smooth data flow between systems, while localized modules addressed specific operational needs.
- MIS Dashboard Development: Centralized dashboards were implemented to provide real-time reporting and insights on hospital operations, student management, laboratory results, HR workflows, and finance.
- Staff Training and Change Management: Hospital and academic staff underwent extensive training to adopt the new digital platform. Transition protocols ensured zero disruption to daily operations.
- Post-Deployment Optimization: Continuous monitoring and iterative improvements were conducted to enhance system performance, data integrity, and user experience.
Project Challenges
CMOSH faced several operational challenges that needed to be addressed:
- Disconnected departmental systems leading to fragmented data and manual errors.
- Dependence on paper-based workflows for clinical, administrative, and academic processes.
- Lack of real-time reporting and visibility into operational metrics.
- Resistance to technology adoption among staff accustomed to legacy processes.
- Complexity of integrating multiple open-source platforms into a single, cohesive ERP system.
Results
The implementation of CliqPack’s full-stack ERP transformed CMOSH operations:
- All clinical, laboratory, HR, finance, and academic workflows were unified under a single platform.
- Paper-based processes were eliminated, increasing data accuracy by 85%.
- Real-time MIS dashboards enabled proactive decision-making and operational insights.
- Automation of repetitive tasks reduced manual workload by 40%, improving efficiency across departments.
- Enhanced interoperability between systems enabled smooth data exchange and reporting.
Final Output
CMOSH now operates on a fully integrated, centralized digital platform that connects clinical, administrative, laboratory, and academic functions. Staff can access real-time information, coordinate effectively across departments, and make faster, data-driven decisions. The ERP system provides robust analytics, reporting, and workflow automation, significantly improving operational efficiency and patient care quality. According to the CMOSH Administration Director, “Thanks to CliqPack, we’ve moved from fragmented paper systems to a unified digital platform that empowers every department—from surgery to student housing.
